Testing positive for HIV often leaves a person overwhelmed with questions and concerns. It’s important to remember that HIV is a manageable disease that can be treated with HIV medicines. HIV medicines can’t cure HIV, but they help people with HIV live longer, healthier lives.The first step after testing HIV positive is to see a health care provider, even if you don’t feel sick. Prompt medical care and treatment with HIV medicines as soon as possible is the best way to stay healthy.People with HIV work closely with their health care providers to decide what HIV medicines to take. Making these treatment decisions begins with an HIV baseline evaluation.An HIV baseline evaluation includes a review of the person’s health and medical history, a physical exam, and lab tests. Results from an HIV baseline evaluation are used to decide whether a person is ready to start lifelong treatment with HIV medicines, and, if so, what HIV medicines to start.

- Proof of income – one of the following is required as proof of income:
- A minimum of two (2) paycheck stubs, no older than 30 days.
- If you currently are not receiving income, you must present a Wage Inquiry form from the Georgia Department of Labor, no more than 30 days old.
- If you are self-employed, you may choose to show a recent tax return.
- If you are paid in cash, you will need to provide a letter from your employer stating your rate of hourly pay, amount paid each pay period, and how often you receive payment.
- Proof of address in the form of a utility bill, lease agreement or homeless shelter letter.
- Insurance card – please bring one of the following if applicable.
- Commercial Insurance: your most recent insurance card.
- Medicaid: your most recent Medicaid card (Peach State, PeachCare for Kids, Wellcare, GHP or Amerigroup).
- Medicare: your red, white and blue card or the card provided by your Medicare HMO.
